In addition to weather forecasts, visas, and passports, here are some things that first-time tourists need to prepare:

  1. Mental anticipation

The atmosphere in India is said to be no different from Jakarta; crowded and complicated. Just like other tourist destinations in the world, of course there are many fraudsters who target tourists.

It is better to dress simply when you arrive, if possible there is no need to show yourself as a tourist such as showing off an expensive camera.

There will be many taxi drivers, rickshaws, or hotel receptionists who will entice us to use their services, most of them with attractive offers at the beginning but end up with expensive prices later.

Booking accommodation and rental cars before coming can actually prevent yourself from becoming a victim of their fraudulent schemes.

But if you have already become a victim, don’t panic. Count the money that has been lost. If it is still considered cheap, it is better to just accept it and continue to be self-aware the next day.

  1. Relax

Before coming, first find out the duration and distance of the tourist attractions that will be visited. Also take into account the weather on the day of the trip.

Don’t force yourself to come to many places that will make your body tired and your trip annoying.

  1. Avoid crowds

Know that tourist attractions in India are not only crowded with foreign tourists, but also with local tourists. Coming early to the tourist attraction you are going to can be the right way out.

You can also visit tourist attractions outside the popular list. Kerala with its hill views or Goa with its beach views are worth considering, besides Mumbai or New Delhi.

  1. Stay healthy

There are many stories about tourists experiencing digestive problems when visiting India. The point is, don’t force yourself to eat or drink things you don’t normally eat, so that your health can still be monitored.

Avoid consuming food or drinks from places that look dirty. Also be wary of food or drinks offered by strangers.

If you are already sick, let’s go back to the first point: don’t panic.

  1. Be concise

Pack your belongings as concisely as possible, so that you can easily move from place to place or by means of transportation.

Put cash in several places, so that you still have spare money if you get pickpocketed or stolen. The same concept can be applied to important documents such as passports or credit cards.

Dress modestly, because Indian people still highly respect Eastern customs.
